Winter Solstice + Total Lunar Eclipse … tomorrow!!!

Apparently it’s very rare that the lunar eclipse coincides with the winter solstice. The last time was in 1638. The next time will be in 2094.

Winter solstice will be in the afternoon. And the day will get longer after that. Yay!
The lunar eclipse will be in the morning. 2:40AM!!! Uhm … I want to see it .. just like the one in 2008 (another post here) .. but I can see the moon now, which means at 2:40am tomorrow, it’ll be behind some tall buildings. Which means if I want to see it, I have to go out in the cold. Hmmm… I think I’ll see it in my dreams this time … 😉

Update (Dec. 21st): there are some nice pictures on flickr.

I’m a little bit bummed that I didn’t see it, but then again… every time I try to see that kind of “phenomena”, I never really see anything… Anyway, it was a “working day” the following morning and super cold outside… so, it wouldn’t have been a good idea to stay out so late in the cold.

Hope you and your family had a good Christmas. 🙂
